Resource Management Act 1991

Freshwater farm plans

217F: Contents of freshwater farm plan

You could also call this:

“This law explains what a farmer must include in their plan to protect water and nature on their farm.”

A freshwater farm plan must do several things. You need to identify any harmful effects your farm activities might have on freshwater and the ecosystems in it. You also need to specify requirements that are suitable for avoiding, fixing, or lessening these harmful effects. These requirements should be easy to understand and measure.

Your plan needs to show how you will achieve any outcomes that are set out in regulations. It also needs to follow any other rules in the regulations. Lastly, your plan must comply with section 217L.

Remember, all of these things are important to include in your freshwater farm plan to make sure you’re taking care of the water on and around your farm.
