Resource Management Act 1991

Water conservation orders

211: Who may be heard at inquiry

You could also call this:

“Who gets to have a say at a water conservation order inquiry?”

When you are at an inquiry about a water conservation order, you can hear from certain people. You can hear from the person who applied for the water conservation order, the Minister, and the regional council or territorial authority that may be affected. You can also hear from people who made a submission to the special tribunal under section 205 and people who the Environment Court allows to make a submission under section 209(1)(c).

The Environment Court is where the inquiry is held, as stated in section 210. You can attend the inquiry in person or have someone represent you. The people who can be heard at the inquiry include those who may be affected by the proposed water conservation order.

The Environment Court decides who can make a submission at the inquiry. If you are allowed to make a submission, you can say what you think about the proposed water conservation order. You can also hear from others who have something to say about the order.
