Illustration for Resource Management Act 1991

The Minister has to give a report to the local authority after they finish investigating. You get the report if the Minister's recommendation is about your local authority's policy statement or plan. The Minister must give you the report as soon as they can.

The local authority can write back to the Minister within 20 working days if they do not agree with the report. The Minister has to think about what the local authority says when deciding what to do next. This includes deciding if they should recommend making new regulations under section 360I(1).

The Minister also has to put the report on the Ministry for the Environment's website within 10 working days of giving it to the local authority. This way, you can see what the Minister found out and what they recommend. The Minister must do this to keep you informed about what is happening.
