331B: Owner or occupier of rural land may take emergency preventive or remedial measures
or “People living in the countryside can act quickly to stop or fix emergencies on their land.”

You could also call this:

“The person who owns or lives on the land must tell the local council about emergency activities they do.”

If you are a rural landowner or occupier, you no longer need to give notice to the relevant consent authority for emergency activities. This requirement was removed from the law on 1 April 2024. The law used to have a section about this, but it has been taken out of the Resource Management Act 1991.
