New Zealand law explained for everyone

47A: Board of inquiry to suspend consideration or consider additional material
or “The Minister can pause or add information to a group's review of important rules.”

You could also call this:

“This law tells how the government must let everyone know about new big plans for the country and ask what people think.”

When a board of inquiry is appointed, they need to tell the public about a proposed national direction and inquiry as soon as they can. They do this by putting a notice in newspapers in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin. They also put the information on a website.

The notice needs to follow a specific format. It should explain what the proposed national direction is about. It should also tell people where they can look at or buy a copy of the proposal. The notice must say that anyone can write a submission about the proposed national direction. It will give a closing date for these submissions, which must be at least 20 working days after the notice is published.

This process makes sure that everyone has a chance to learn about the proposed national direction and share their thoughts on it.
