Resource Management Act 1991

Standards, policy statements, and plans - Local authority policy statements and plans - Amendment of NPS-UD

77S: Amendment of NPS-UD

You could also call this:

“Changes to rules about building heights and houses in cities”

The government has made some changes to a rule called Policy 3. They’ve added the word “at” in one part and replaced another part completely.

The person in charge of the environment, called the Minister for the Environment, can make more changes to these rules. But first, they need to talk to the person in charge of housing, called the Minister of Housing.

The Minister for the Environment can make changes if they think it’s needed because of a new law called the Resource Management (Enabling Housing Supply and Other Matters) Amendment Act 2021. They can do this to fix any problems between the old rules and the new law, to change what “planning decision” means in the old rules, or to make it clearer how the old rules and the new law work together.
