When you read the Resource Management Act 1991, you will see some special words. You need to know what these words mean. A designation is a rule in a district plan that helps a requiring authority get what they need. You will also see the term eligible infrastructure, which is explained in the Infrastructure Funding and Financing Act 2020. This Act says what eligible infrastructure means in section 8. You can find this information on the Infrastructure Funding and Financing Act 2020 website. A network utility operator is a person or company that does certain jobs. These jobs include distributing gas, petroleum, or geothermal energy. They also include operating telecommunications or radiocommunication networks. You can find more information about telecommunications in the Telecommunications Act 2001. You can find more information about radiocommunication in the Radiocommunications Act 1989. A public work is a job that relates to building eligible infrastructure. A requiring authority is a person or group that can ask for a designation. This includes Ministers of the Crown, local authorities, and some companies. You can find more information about water service providers in the Local Government (Water Services) Act 2025. A responsible infrastructure authority and a responsible SPV are also important terms. These terms are explained in the Infrastructure Funding and Financing Act 2020. An SPV is a special company that builds eligible infrastructure. You can find more information about this on the Infrastructure Funding and Financing Act 2020 website.
