27: Minister may require local authorities to supply information
or “The person in charge of the environment can ask local groups for information about how they use their powers.”

You could also call this:

“The Minister of Conservation is responsible for making rules about the coast and checking if they are followed.”

The Minister of Conservation has several important jobs under this law. You need to know that the Minister is responsible for creating and recommending New Zealand coastal policy statements. These statements are explained in section 57 of the law.

The Minister also has to approve regional coastal plans. This approval process is described in Schedule 1 of the law.

Another job of the Minister is to keep an eye on how New Zealand coastal policy statements are working and being used. They also need to watch how coastal permits for restricted coastal activities are being used.

Lastly, the Minister of Conservation has to do any other tasks that this law says they should do.
