Resource Management Act 1991

Resource consents - Application for resource consent

91: Deferral pending application for additional consents

You could also call this:

“The council can pause your request if you need more permits, so they can understand your plan better.”

When you apply for a resource consent, the authority that handles these applications can decide not to go ahead with notifying others about your application or holding a hearing about it. They can do this if they think you need to get other resource consents for your project as well. They might want you to apply for these other consents first so they can better understand what you’re planning to do.

If the authority decides to wait, they have to tell you right away. If you don’t agree with their decision to wait, you can ask the Environment Court to cancel the authority’s decision.
