This law aims to keep you safe on the road. It wants to make sure people behave well on roads and that vehicles are safe. The law also sets rules for driving and for vehicles. The law creates a system of rules for people using roads, for getting a driver's licence, and for technical things about vehicles and roads. It also recognises that people have responsibilities to each other when using roads. The law combines and updates many old laws about road safety and transport. It helps New Zealand follow international agreements about road safety and transport.
