Land Transport Act 1998

Motor vehicle registration and licensing - Regulations

269A: Additional fee for certain RUC vehicles

You could also call this:

“Extra charge for some vehicles that don't pay normal road fees”

The Governor-General can set an extra fee for some vehicles that don’t have to pay road user charges. This fee can be for all these vehicles or just some types of them. The fee is treated as money for land transport and is set based on how much the vehicles use the road and how much they might cost the road system. You have to pay this fee on top of your normal vehicle licence or trade plate fee. The fee can be different for different types of vehicles. When the Governor-General makes an order about this fee, it becomes a type of law that needs to be confirmed by an Act of Parliament.
