139AABApproval of automated infringement system

  1. The Minister of Transport may approve an automated infringement system for the purposes of section 139AAA if satisfied that the system is capable of verifying the matters set out in section 139AAA(1).

  2. Before approving an automated infringement system, the Minister must consult the Privacy Commissioner about—

  3. how the system is proposed to operate; and
    1. any privacy implications of its operation.
      1. The Minister of Transport may issue a certificate of approval.

      2. A certificate of approval issued under subsection (3) is secondary legislation (see Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019 for publication requirements).
