Land Transport Act 1998

Clean vehicle standard - Clean vehicle standard - Opening, closing, and suspension of carbon dioxide accounts

192: Director may suspend carbon dioxide accounts

You could also call this:

“Director can pause your carbon account if you break rules or to keep things fair”

The Director can stop your carbon dioxide account from working for up to 5 years in two situations. First, if you don’t follow the rules in this part of the law or the regulations, and the Director tells you about it. Second, if you’ve been found guilty of breaking the rules in this part of the law, and the Director thinks stopping your account is needed to keep the clean vehicle standard fair and honest.

If the Director wants to stop your account because you didn’t follow the rules, they must tell you in writing first. They also need to give you enough time to fix the problem before they stop your account.
