Clean vehicle standard:
Opening, closing, and suspension of carbon dioxide accounts
189Opening carbon dioxide accounts
Any person who intends to import a Type A or Type B vehicle into New Zealand may apply to the Director to open a carbon dioxide account by submitting an application in the manner prescribed by the regulations, accompanied by the prescribed fee (if any).
The Director must open a carbon dioxide account on receipt of an application under subsection (1) if the Director is satisfied that—
- the application complies with the prescribed requirements; and
- if the applicant intends to import new vehicles, the applicant does not already hold a carbon dioxide account that relates to new vehicles; and
- if the applicant intends to import used vehicles, the applicant does not already hold a carbon dioxide account that relates to used vehicles.
