Land Transport Act 1998

Offences relating to transport services and penalties

79AB: Offence to drive vehicle used in transport service without licence

You could also call this:

“You need a special licence to drive for a transport service”

If you drive a vehicle as part of a transport service, you need to make sure that someone has the right licence. This could be you, the person you’re driving for, or someone who helped you find passengers. If no one has the right licence, you’re breaking the law.

If you’re caught driving without the right licence, you might have to pay a fine. The most you could be fined is $10,000.

This rule is important because it helps keep everyone safe when using transport services. It makes sure that the people providing these services have the right permissions to do so.
