Land Transport Act 1998

Motor vehicle registration and licensing - Change of registered person on sale or other disposition

254: Impounded motor vehicle not to be damaged

You could also call this:

“Don't damage impounded cars when moving them”

When a police officer or other official needs to move or take away a car, they can ask someone else to help them. This person might need to go inside the car to move it or get it ready to be moved. They might also need to take the car away to a special place.

If you’re the person helping to move or take away the car, you need to be very careful. You must do everything you can to make sure you don’t damage the car. This includes not damaging anything inside the car or any personal items that might be in it.

Remember, it’s your job to keep the car and everything in it safe while you’re moving it. You need to be gentle and take care with everything you do.
