“This part explains why New Zealand wants to reduce pollution from new cars”

This part of the law aims to help New Zealand quickly lower the amount of carbon dioxide that comes from light vehicles brought into the country. The goal is to help New Zealand reach its target for the year 2050 and meet its emissions budgets. These targets are set out in the Climate Change Response Act 2002. This will also help New Zealand keep its promises about climate change, both within the country and to other countries around the world.
