Clean vehicle standard - Clean vehicle standard - Category 2 light vehicle importers: obligations and ways of complying with targets

183: Category 2 light vehicle importer may bank overachievement of carbon dioxide emissions

You could also call this:

“Car importers can save extra credits for bringing in low-emission vehicles”

If you are a category 2 light vehicle importer and you bring in a vehicle that produces less carbon dioxide than the target set for you, you can save this extra achievement. You can put this saved achievement into your carbon dioxide account, following the rules set out in the regulations. This is called ‘banking’ your overachievement.

If you bank any credits this way, the same rules apply to them as described in Section 178(3) of this law. You can find more information about how these credits work by looking at that section.
