Land Transport Act 1998

Offences relating to work time and logbooks - Logbooks

79Q: Failure to discharge duties regarding logbooks

You could also call this:

“Breaking rules about logbooks can get you in trouble”

If you don’t follow the rules about logbooks as stated in section 30ZH, you are breaking the law. This applies to drivers and other people involved with logbooks.

If you’re a driver and you break these rules, you might have to pay up to $2,000. You could also lose your licence for at least one month or longer if the court decides. This applies if you drive vehicles that need a class 2, 3, 4, or 5 licence, or if you drive for a transport service. It also applies if you drive a big truck that carries goods for money.

If you’re not a driver but still break the logbook rules, you might have to pay up to $25,000.
