Land transport secondary legislation

161: Procedure concerning ordinary rules

You could also call this:

“How the Minister makes new rules about land transport”

When the Minister wants to make an ordinary rule about land transport, they need to follow certain steps. First, they must sign the rule themselves. They also need to explain what the rule is for and who they talked to about it.

The rule needs to include all the important details. Sometimes, the rule might refer to information in another document. If this happens, the rule must say where to find that information.

Before the Minister can make a rule, they have to tell everyone about it. They do this by publishing a notice that says they want to make a rule. The notice must give people enough time to share their thoughts about the new rule.

The Minister also has to talk to different people and groups about the rule. This includes people who work in land transport, government departments, and other important organisations. The Minister decides who they need to talk to for each rule.

By following these steps, the Minister makes sure that everyone has a chance to have their say before a new rule is made.
