Land Transport Act 1998

Offences relating to work time and logbooks - Work time

79N: Failure to keep or produce records or comply with conditions of exemption or approval

You could also call this:

“Breaking rules about keeping records or following special permissions for drivers and transport companies”

You can get in trouble if you don’t follow the rules about keeping records or doing what you’re supposed to when you’ve been given special permission. This is about work time and logbooks for drivers and transport companies.

If you’re a driver and you break these rules, you might have to pay up to $2,000. You could also lose your licence for at least a month. This means you won’t be able to drive certain types of vehicles. These include vehicles that need special licences, vehicles used for transport services, or vehicles that carry goods for money.

If you’re not a driver but still break these rules, you could be fined up to $100,000.

The rules this talks about are in section 30ZD and section 30ZA(1)(a) or (c) of the law. It’s important to follow these rules and any special conditions you’ve been given.
