Land Transport Act 1998

Disqualification, demerit points, licence suspension, and vehicle impoundment - Disqualification

84: New licence to be issued if disqualified driver qualifies for specified vehicle classes

You could also call this:

“You can get a new licence for some vehicles if you were banned from driving”

If you have been disqualified from driving, you might be able to get a new licence for certain types of vehicles. This can happen if you apply for the same type of licence you had before you were disqualified. You also need to qualify for that licence by doing approved courses or passing tests set by the Director.

If you meet these requirements, the Director must give you a new licence. This licence will let you drive the type of vehicle you applied for, as well as any lower classes of vehicles you were allowed to drive before you were disqualified.

It’s important to know that if you get a licence to drive a motorcycle, this doesn’t mean you can drive other types of vehicles. You can only drive the vehicles that your specific licence allows.
