Illustration for Land Transport Act 1998

The Director can ask for information to decide if someone is a fit and proper person. You can think of a 'fit and proper person' as someone who is suitable for a particular job or role. The Director can get this information from anywhere they think is suitable. The Director can look at any information they get from any source. This helps the Director make a decision about the person. The Director has the power to do this under the Land Transport Act 1998. You can find more information about this by looking at the Land Transport Act. This Act has rules about how the Director can make decisions. The Director must follow these rules when deciding if someone is a fit and proper person.
