Land Transport Act 1998

Additional responsibilities concerning road transport

17: Distance recorders not to be altered

You could also call this:

“Don't change or trick the car's distance counter”

You are not allowed to change the distance recorder on a motor vehicle or make changes to the vehicle itself if you want to make it look like the vehicle has travelled a different distance than it actually has. This means you can’t mess with the odometer or do anything else to the vehicle that would make it show a false reading of how far it has gone. It’s important to keep the distance recorder accurate and honest.
