Land Transport Act 1998

Clean vehicle standard - Information gathering and enforcement powers

197C: Offence in relation to requirement to supply information, produce documents, or give evidence

You could also call this:

“Breaking the rules about giving honest information on clean vehicles”

If you are asked to provide information, documents, or evidence about clean vehicles, you need to do so honestly and completely. If you don’t, you might be breaking the law.

You could get in trouble if you don’t give the information when asked, unless you have a good reason. You could also get in trouble if you give false or misleading information on purpose.

If you break this law, you might have to pay a fine. If you’re an individual person, the fine could be up to $15,000. If you’re a company or organisation, the fine could be up to $75,000.

It’s important to always tell the truth and provide correct information when you’re asked about clean vehicles.
