30ZC: Limits on work time

You could also call this:

“Rules about how long drivers can work and when they must rest”

You must follow certain rules about how long you can work and when you need to rest if you are a driver covered by this part of the law. These rules are set out in this section, in other rules, or in special changes allowed by section 30ZA.

In one work day, you can’t work for more than 13 hours. You also need to have at least 10 hours of rest in a row.

Over a longer period of work, you can’t work for more than 70 hours in total.

Sometimes, the rules might allow you to work for longer than these limits for certain jobs or services.

These rules don’t apply to you if you’re driving an ambulance or a fire brigade vehicle and you’re going to or coming back from an emergency that’s marked as high priority in the rules.
