A transport service licence starts on the day it is granted. It stays in force until you surrender it, it is deemed to be surrendered, or it is revoked under section 30S. You can surrender your transport service licence at any time by giving written notice to the Agency or the Director. If you do not operate a vehicle under your transport service licence for 2 years, the licence is deemed to have been surrendered. Some organisations cannot have their transport service licence suspended or revoked, including the New Zealand Defence Force, Fire and Emergency New Zealand, the Police, and any emergency service organisation approved by the Director.
