When you are part of a water organisation, you must give some information to your local council. You need to provide the information the council requires to work out who is entitled to a rebate under the Rates Rebate Act 1973. This information is about the people you have charged for water services and how much you charged them.

You must give this information in a timely manner that you and the council agree on. You also need to provide it on a reasonable cost basis. The information you give includes the names and addresses of the people you have charged, and the amounts you charged them for water services during the previous rating year.

The rating year is defined in the Rates Rebate Act 1973. The council you give the information to is the one that covers the area where your water organisation provides services. You must give the council the information they need to calculate rebates for the previous year.
