If you have a duty under a stormwater network bylaw made under section 258 and you knowingly fail to comply with that duty, you commit an offence if that non-compliance causes a specified serious risk. You have this duty because of a bylaw that was made to help manage stormwater. If you break this rule, you can get in trouble.

If you are found guilty of this offence, you can be fined. The amount of the fine depends on whether you are an individual or a company. If you are an individual, the fine can be up to $20,000. If you are a company, the fine can be up to $200,000.

You should understand that this law is part of the Local Government (Water Services) Act 2025, and it is related to other laws, such as the one mentioned in the compare section, but the details of those laws are not part of this rule.
