Illustration for Local Government (Water Services) Act 2025

If you intentionally threaten or assault someone who works for a territorial authority or water organisation, you can get in trouble. This person must be doing their job or using their powers under the Local Government (Water Services) Act 2025. You can be fined if you do this, and the fine can be up to $50,000 if you are an individual.

If you are a company or a group, the fine can be up to $250,000. The rules about this are similar to rules in other laws, such as s 429. You will have to go to court if you are accused of doing this, and the court will decide what happens to you.
