If you are a compliance officer, you must check if buildings or sitework for water services follow the rules in the Building Act 2004. You do this when you are doing your job under this Act. If you think something does not comply, you must tell the right territorial authority in writing and explain why you think that.

You need to know what sitework means in this context. Sitework refers to the meaning given in section 7(1) of the Building Act 2004. This helps you understand what to check when looking at buildings or sitework for water services.

When you notify the territorial authority, you must include details of your opinion about why the building or sitework does not comply with the Building Act 2004 or the building code.
