If you are a water service provider, you must prepare a water services strategy that follows the rules in this Part. You must also have a water services strategy in place at all times. This means you need to have a plan for how you will manage your water services.

You have to adopt your water services strategy before the start of the first financial year it covers. When you adopt a water services strategy, it comes into force on the first day of the first financial year it relates to. It stays in force until the end of the third consecutive financial year it relates to.

Your water services strategy must cover a period of at least 10 consecutive financial years, or a different period that is specified in this Part or in the Schedule 3. If you are a water organisation, you prepare and adopt your own water services strategy. If you are a territorial authority, you prepare and adopt your water services strategy by making a resolution.
