Local Government (Water Services) Act 2025

Miscellaneous provisions - Compliance and enforcement - Compliance orders

303: Power of chief executive to take other remedial action

You could also call this:

"Chief executive can take action if someone breaks the rules and can't be found or to stop a serious problem."

Illustration for Local Government (Water Services) Act 2025

The chief executive of a territorial authority or water organisation can take action if they think someone is not following the rules. You might wonder what happens if the chief executive cannot find the person who is not following the rules, even after trying really hard. In this case, the chief executive can still take steps to make sure the rules are followed or to stop a serious risk from happening. The chief executive wants to ensure that people comply with the rules or fix a problem that could be serious. They can take action to prevent or reduce a risk, and this is allowed under the law, which you can read more about by looking at the related legislation.
