The shareholders of a water organisation have to keep an eye on how well the organisation is doing. You need to think about how the organisation is performing in relation to what the shareholders expect of them, which is outlined in a statement of expectations, as explained in section 224. The shareholders also have to check if the organisation is meeting its strategic priorities, objectives, and outcomes, which are part of the organisation's water services strategy.

The shareholders must do this monitoring regularly, and it includes doing an annual review. This annual review helps the shareholders understand how well the water organisation is performing. The review looks at the organisation's progress in meeting its goals and objectives.

The organisation's performance is important because it affects the water services provided to you and your community. The shareholders' monitoring helps ensure the organisation is working well and providing good services. This is an important part of how water organisations are managed in New Zealand.
