Local Government (Water Services) Act 2025

Provision of water services: operational matters - Development contributions

115: Information sharing for development contributions

You could also call this:

"Water organisations and councils must share information to help pay for new water services."

Illustration for Local Government (Water Services) Act 2025

When a water organisation has a development contributions policy, you need to know how they share information. This can happen in two ways: the water organisation can adopt its own policy under section 119, or a territorial authority's policy can be extended to cover the water organisation under section 128.

If this happens, the water organisation and the territorial authority must share information with each other when asked. They share information to help recover development contributions, like details about water services infrastructure or consent applications.

The party that receives a request for information must provide it as soon as possible and at a reasonable cost.
