154: Stay of reviewable decision on internal review

You could also call this:

"Stopping a decision while it's being reviewed"

Illustration for Local Government (Water Services) Act 2025

If you apply for an internal review of an original decision, the water service provider can stop the original decision from happening. They can do this on their own or because you asked them to. The water service provider has to decide whether to stop the original decision within three working days of getting your application. If they do not make a decision within those three working days, it means they have stopped the original decision.

If the water service provider stops the original decision, it will not happen until they make a decision on your internal review. You will have to wait until they make a decision on your review to know what happens next. The water service provider is in charge of making this decision.
