Illustration for Local Government (Water Services) Act 2025

If you break a rule in a source water risk management plan or a permit, you commit an offence. You can find these plans in the Water Services Act 2021 or in a water services bylaw permit. These rules are in place to manage risks to source water.

If you commit this offence, you can get a fine. The fine can be up to $20,000 if you are an individual. If you are a company or a group, the fine can be up to $100,000.

You will get this fine if you are convicted of breaking the rules in a source water risk management plan or a permit. This is a serious offence and can result in a big fine. You should be aware of the rules to avoid breaking them.
