An infringement notice must have certain information in it. You need to know what the alleged offence is, including when and where it happened, and what the offence is. The notice must also tell you how much you have to pay, where to send the payment, and how to pay it.

You will also be told how long you have to pay the fee. The notice must include a summary of what section 21(10) of the Summary Proceedings Act 1957 says. This is a law that explains what happens in certain situations.

The notice will tell you that you can ask for a hearing if you do not think you did anything wrong. It will also tell you what will happen if you do not pay the fee or ask for a hearing, and include any other information that the bylaw says must be included.
