Structural arrangements for providing water services - Water organisations - Governance of water organisations: consumer trusts

63: Ministerial powers

You could also call this:

"The Minister has special powers to help or get involved with water services trusts."

Illustration for Local Government (Water Services) Act 2025

The Minister has powers to help trustees and get involved in their affairs. You can find these powers in Part 10 of the LGA 2002. When the Minister uses these powers, they treat a consumer trust like a local authority, making any necessary changes to make it work.

The Minister can use these powers to assist trustees or intervene in their affairs. This means the Minister can use the rules in Part 10 of the LGA 2002 to help or get involved. The rules are applied in a way that makes sense for a consumer trust, even though they were written for local authorities.
