Illustration for Local Government (Water Services) Act 2025

A water services bylaw made under this Act can do several things. It can specify which offences under this Act are infringement offences, as defined in section 256. You can be given an infringement notice for these offences, and the bylaw can also set the fine, which cannot be more than $1,000 for an individual or $3,000 for a company. The bylaw can decide what information must be included in an infringement notice and what the notice should look like. It can also decide what a reminder notice should look like, in case you forget to pay your fine.
