When you get a licence under section 181, it starts on the date stated in the licence. You can get a licence for a set term that the licensing authority thinks is right for your situation. You can also get a licence that has no end date if the licensing authority decides that is okay.

If you apply to renew your licence under section 183 and your application is not finished before your licence expires, your licence keeps being valid. 182Duration of licence

  1. A licence granted under section 181

  2. takes effect on the date stated in the licence; and
    1. may be granted—
      1. for a term that the licensing authority considers appropriate in the particular case; and
        1. for an indefinite term, if the licensing authority thinks fit.
        2. A licence, subject to subsection (3), continues in effect beyond the date of expiry of the licence if—

        3. an application is made under section 183 for the renewal of the licence; and
          1. the application is not disposed of before the date of expiry of the licence.
            1. If subsection (2) applies, the scheduled international air service licence expires when the application is disposed of.
