The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has a job to tell the Transport Accident Investigation Commission (TAIC) about accidents and incidents. You need to know that the CAA must tell TAIC as soon as possible after they find out about an accident or incident under section 49. This includes accidents with aircraft or serious incidents that follow the rules of the Convention.

If the CAA is told about a search and rescue operation under section 49(5), they must tell TAIC right away. The CAA has to follow these rules to keep everyone informed about what is happening with accidents and incidents.

The CAA's job is to make sure TAIC knows what is going on so they can do their own job properly.
