If you get an improvement notice, there are rules about what you must do. An inspector can give you more time to follow the rules in the notice. The inspector can do this by sending you a written notice.

The inspector can only give you more time if the time to follow the rules has not run out yet. You need to know what the compliance period is, which is the time stated in the improvement notice, as explained in section 299(1). This period includes any extra time the inspector gives you to follow the rules.
