124: Authorised security person may seize evidence of identity

You could also call this:

"Security staff can take your ID if they think you're using it wrongly at the airport"

If you show your identity to a security person at the airport, they might take it from you. This can happen if the security person thinks you are using your identity wrongly or it is no longer valid. They will then give it back to the person who issued it or tell them what happened.

The security person can do this if they have a good reason to believe your identity is being used in a way that breaks aviation rules. They can also do this if the identity approval has ended or been taken away. You can find more information about this in section 122(1)(b)(ii).

The security person will follow the rules to return your identity or tell the right people about what happened.
