Civil Aviation Act 2023

Monitoring, investigation, and enforcement - Inspectors and response officers

333: Identity cards

You could also call this:

"Inspectors must carry identity cards to prove who they are and what they do"

Illustration for Civil Aviation Act 2023

The Director gives each inspector an identity card with their name and job title on it. The card may also have other information that is required by regulations or rules. You can think of regulations as rules created by the government to help laws work properly.

When an inspector is doing their job, they must show you their identity card if you ask to see it. This is so you know they are really an inspector and have the power to do their job. Inspectors have special powers under the Civil Aviation Act 2023.

If someone stops being an inspector, they must give their identity card back to the Director as soon as possible. This is so the card does not get used by someone who is not supposed to be an inspector. You can find more information about this by looking at the Civil Aviation Act 1986 for comparison.
