Aviation security - Designations and security checks - Airside security areas

122: Entry into airside security area

You could also call this:

"Who can enter the secure area at an airport"

Illustration for Civil Aviation Act 2023

To enter an airside security area, you must be one of the allowed people. You can be a police officer or an aviation security officer on official duties. You can also be someone who is authorised by the Director or the aerodrome operator and has proof of who you are.

The proof of identity you need is what the rules say you need or what the Director approves. If you are a passenger going through a special gateway, you might not need to show your proof of identity. You can also pass through without proof of identity if the rules allow you to.

If you want to know more about the old rules, you can look at the 1990 law.
