The Minister can make rules about airspace. You need to know that these rules can classify, designate, or restrict airspace. The Minister can also make rules about things that affect the airspace that planes fly in, including planes used by the New Zealand Defence Force.

The Minister gets this power from section 52. The rules can say how airspace is used, or if some airspace is off-limits. The Minister can make these rules to help keep people safe when planes are flying.

The Minister's rules can also apply to airspace used by visiting forces, not just the New Zealand Defence Force.
