The Governor-General can make rules to control the sale of alcohol at international airports. You must be a certain age to buy alcohol at these airports, which is stated in section 252(1). The rules can say what happens if someone breaks these rules, like getting a fine of up to $1,000.

The Governor-General can also make rules about what offences happen if someone breaks the alcohol rules at airports. These rules are called secondary legislation, which you can learn more about in Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019.

The rules made by the Governor-General will help control the sale of alcohol to passengers at international airports in New Zealand.
