Illustration for Civil Aviation Act 2023

The CAA has a special plan called an engagement charter that tells you what to expect from them. This plan includes what the CAA promises to do when carrying out their jobs, and what you can do if you think they did not meet those promises. You can find this plan and read it because the CAA must make it available to the public.

The CAA's engagement charter also explains how you can complain if you think they did not do something they should have done, and what might happen to fix the problem. The CAA can even appoint someone independent to help resolve disputes. The CAA, its Director, and its employees all have to follow the engagement charter.

The CAA can change its engagement charter, but it must let the public know about any changes. Having an engagement charter does not stop you from making a complaint or taking action under other laws, you can still do that. You can look at an old version of a similar law, s 72G, to compare.
