Civil Aviation Act 2023

Functions, powers, and duties of participants in civil aviation system - Regulatory roles - CAA

24: Duties of CAA in relation to search and rescue

You could also call this:

"What the CAA must do to help with search and rescue"

The CAA has to do certain things if the Minister tells them to. You need to know the Minister gets their power from the Maritime Transport Act 1994. The CAA must follow the Minister's directions.

The CAA might have to run a search and rescue centre. They might have to organise search and rescue operations or help with them. They might have to do search and rescue operations themselves or help with them.

The CAA might also have to use some of the Minister's powers. These powers are stated in the Maritime Transport Act 1994. The Minister's powers are what guide the CAA's actions.
